HJ Andrews Experimental Forest
about the project
Rebrand. HJ Andrews Experimental Forest is both a USDA Experimental Forest and a Long-Term Ecological Research Program (LTER). The program's long-term research provides insight into how ecosystems change over time. The longer these ecosystems are observed, the more that can be learned from their processes.
Designers created a brand system toolkit that would set up HJ Andrews Experimental Forest for future evolution of the program's visual look and feel. Aesthetics were made to align with program guidelines, and took into consideration the mood conveyed, as well as layout, color palette, and typographic system. Deliverables were versatile in that they could be easily accessed and used by outside contractors assigned in revamping HJ Andrews Experimental Forest website following project completion.
The former branding had been part of the organization for almost two decades. The current website functioned in the way it needed to, but was outdated stylistically. As a result, a clean, modern, and approachable brand revamp was in order.
